As of the latest update, the WLD token is now valued at $4.26, marking an extraordinary+32.10% surge within the last 24 hours alone, boasting a total market cap of $423 million.
This surge in value is directly linked to Worldcoin Founder Sam Altman’s recent endeavor to secure substantial funding for the ambitious project. According to reports from beincrypto, Altman is actively seeking significant financial backing to propel the Worldcoin project forward.
At its core, the Worldcoin project, operating under the umbrella of Tools For Humanity, aspires to construct the world’s most extensive identity and financial network, designed as a public utility accessible to all, with ownership distributed widely.
Under the initiative, Worldcoin has introduced “orb” devices, engaging over 2.6 million individuals globally. Users willingly participate by scanning their irises, receiving a unique digital ID along with complimentary cryptocurrency.
Sam Altman emphasized the project’s global impact in a recent virtual Q&A with FT Partners, a fintech-focused investment bank. Altman stressed the growing importance of digital identity in a world increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence.
“In a world with a lot of AI, knowing who is human matters more and more. The belief was and is that as AI becomes an increasingly important part of our lives… The ability to identify unique humans was going to be more and more important,” Altman explained.
Worldcoin’s pursuit of financial support follows its successful Series C funding round, which raised an impressive $115 million. Notable investors such as Blockchain Capital, a16z Crypto, and Bain Capital Crypto have already shown their support for this groundbreaking venture.
As Worldcoin continues its mission and seeks additional capital, the WLD token’s price has seen a remarkable increase of 62.19%, rising from $2.63 to its current value of $4.27.
