What is Testnet 2?

Testnet 2 serves as a new testing layer for the network, allowing node operators to seamlessly switch between the Testnet and Mainnet environments. This flexibility enables operators to test performance, compatibility, and upcoming features without disrupting the main operations. At the start, a selected group of node operators will be testing on this new network to ensure everything runs smoothly and provide feedback on functionality.

Why is Testnet 2 Important?

The introduction of Testnet 2 is part of Pi Network’s broader strategy to transition smoothly into the Open Network phase. According to the Pi Network Whitepaper, once the testing phase is successfully completed, Pi’s long-awaited Mainnet will officially launch. Testnet 2 is crucial for fine-tuning the system and ensuring that Pi’s nodes and features are ready for the Mainnet transition.

KYC Deadline Extended

In addition to Testnet 2, Pi Network recently launched its Pi Influence Program to boost visibility ahead of the mainnet launch. The platform has also extended its KYC (Know Your Customer) verification deadline to November 30, 2024. This extension gives more users the opportunity to verify their identity and participate in the network. The Mainnet migration deadline is set for December 31, 2024, aligning well with these new initiatives.

These developments mark an exciting phase for the Pi Network as it inches closer to its Mainnet launch, signaling great potential for its growing user base.
