The Kaspa Ecosystem Foundation has announced an ambitious initiative called the Katalyst Development Plan on 11 Sept, which aims to supercharge the growth and prosperity of the Kaspa ecosystem. With a hefty $10 million in funding, this plan is set to cover a wide range of areas, including financial support, infrastructure development, and education for both users and developers.
The Katalyst Plan is divided into four strategic stages: Seeding, Sprouting, Growing, and Fruiting, each designed to nurture the ecosystem at different levels of development. The first phase is set to kick off with the launch of the KRC20 protocol on the mainnet, scheduled for September 15, 2024.
At the heart of this initiative is Kasplex, the backbone of Kaspa’s infrastructure. Kasplex makes it easier for developers, artists, and influencers to launch projects on the Kaspa platform. The introduction of the KRC20 protocol is a significant milestone, as it allows users to issue, deploy, mint, and transfer fungible tokens on the Kaspa network.
During a rigorous three-month internal and stress testing phase, the KRC20 protocol successfully processed 90 million transactions, demonstrating its robustness and scalability. Interestingly, a large portion of the deployed projects are meme tokens, with one of the earliest being NACHO, inspired by a core founder’s cat.
The KRC20 protocol offers a fast and cost-effective solution for asset issuance, making it a valuable tool for other projects within the Kaspa ecosystem. With the Katalyst Plan in motion, the Kaspa Foundation is setting the stage for a new era of growth, innovation, and community engagement.
