Solana Down: Network Stopped Processing Transactions Due To Outage

Solana (SOL) blockchain experienced a sudden halt in transaction processing, with no new blocks recorded for over an hour. 

The last transaction was registered at block height 227218878 at 09:52:44 (UTC), according to Solana Blockchain Explorer data.

The Solana development team confirmed the network outage and initiated investigations into the issue. 

The incident report on Solana's official website stated that engineers are working to address the outage on mainnet-beta.

A leading validator on Solana also acknowledged the performance degradation and the halt in block progression.

This outage marks the first major incident since February 2023, when the network was down for nearly 19 hours.

Similar significant outages were recorded in September and October 2022, totaling over seven hours.

In January 2022, Solana experienced a partial outage for seven consecutive days, with a total of nine outages that month. 

Despite occasional outages, Solana maintains an impressive uptime with a 99% success rate for most of the time. 

The current network downtime has impacted Solana's native token (SOL), reflecting a 4.23% loss according to CoinMarketCap data.
